The ADAA Art Show at the Park Avenue Armory in New York, NY

I was in town during the Art Dealers Association of America’s annual fair, the Art Show. I love shows at the Park Avenue Armory. The space is grand, and I always feel just a slight bit elegant walking up the stairs and into the entry of the beautiful lobby. It takes me just minutes to feel invisible and underdressed. The crowd at any Armory event is always elegant and well dressed.

There were 78 exhibitors at the fair, and I’m showing you some of the work to which I was most drawn.

There was a treasure trove of Henry Moore sculptures and works on paper at this booth. I liked this work on paper, which I had not seen before.

I’ve paid attention to Matthew Barney’s career since the Matthew Barney: The Cremaster Cycle exhibition at the Guggenheim back in 2003. It was one of those art exhibitions that was eye opening, and life changing, for me. I began my lifetime love for resin at that show. Barney was only 36 at the time. It was fun to see some current work of his.

I know I’ve shown you work by Faig Ahmed several times before. I still stop and look whenever I see them, as I think they are just fabulous.

It is hard to pass by any work by the magnificent Toshiko Takaezu. Takaezu is included in the main exhibition at this year’s Venice Biennale, which goes through the end of the month. I was lucky enough to go, and I’ll share those images from that exhibition soon.
