When my daughter recommends a show to me, I always get there. Theodora is so much cooler than I can ever pretend to be, and I love her tips. She sent me to see Gracelee Lawrence, Heat Sync, at Postmasters, and I’m glad I went.
Being a ceramic artist myself, I still have not really come around to the 3D ceramic process. While the machines are cool, and getting better, I’m a purest in regards to clay. I like knowing what the hand can create. I do however like some 3D printed Polylactic Acid (PLA) plastic work, and I liked Lawrence’s. As you can see here, her colors, and color variations, are really spectacular.
Read more about Lawrence here.
I love how these pieces were displayed on rotating platforms.
Sadly, this was the last show at Postmasters in Tribeca. Read this great interview with the super cool Magda Sawon. I’ll be paying attention to their next chapter, as well as Postmasters Rome. There are some really good shows coming up in Italy.
