Last time I went to Lubov gallery in Chinatown I had such a hard time figuring out where it was. This trip I knew exactly where to go, and wearing my warm but lightweight coat, and sensible but chic boots, I walked up the four floors to get to the gallery like a regular. I was absolutely thrilled when I heard last month that Lubov was having a show with Eli Ping. I first saw his work last year, and I have kept a close eye on him ever since. You can read this blog post from that visit, still one of my favorite shows from last year. Similar work to that show is currently at Art Basel in Miami this week.

Instead of resin, which you know is my favorite medium, this time his cast iron sculpture was the highlight. The exhibition was not only Eli Ping, but also Covey Gong. I also truly liked Gong’s work. The sheer wall pieces were really stunning in person.
